Good article on maintaining energy when hiking. I hiked the AT a while ago, always had Snickers bars and peanut butter in my pack.

Some of the living arrangements are communal, the Interpretive and maintanence folks, ie. The supervisory rangers (Interpretive and LEO) have their own residence. Anyone who has backpacked enough has had problems with blisters at some point. IR in the Spring, when the trails are often wet, has produced blisters for many a hiker. New boots not broken in.
