Re: First time back country camper. What to bring to Isle Royale?
Welcome, Ditch the MRE's and try mountain house pro packs, get a good headlamp, with new batteries in it you should not need spares. I would maybe use a colder sleeping bag, nights on the island can still get very very cold when the night dampness rolls in. We use a platypus water filter and each ca...

Re: Windigo Cabins
All in all this is a remote national park, and we are lucky to have it as a wilderness area. Because of the remoteness there are expected issues with "getting" a hold of someone there., Anywhere here in the forums you can find almost every answer to all questions. Because of the remoteness...

Re: May 2018 McCargo-Daisy-Moskey-Chippewa
Thank you for the trip report! Arriving myself next Tues. I am planning on cold nights (hence -20 sleeping bag). I am glad you saw moose, and sounds like you enjoyed your hiking. As for appetite, I think lots of us over pack food, we panic at the last minute thinking what if. I always have food left...

Nice report "wink wink"
saw a moose on shore leaving boat...lol finally. Was way back in the woods, caught it out of the corner of my eye. Like they say, some people live through others adventures, so that said thanks for the card games and photo sharing. Nice to laugh once in a while.

Re: Early May Trip Concerns
miasoccersmile Welcome, Great you are visiting soon. I can assure you it will be cold this year and stream crossings can be a challenge in places, slippery, and sometimes deep. Be wary of cows and calves, they are over protective right now. We always come last week of May into June and I bring nothi...

Re: Making water safe to drink
Planning a trip to the island in 2018. Can you use tablets to make the water safe to drink? If so, which ones? What is in the water that you have to worry about? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk You do need to use a filter system while on the island. We use the http://tse1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=OI...
