Re: Map

Lakes' Richie and Intermediate, "canoe camps", are in different areas of the lake, than current positions.

It only took two and a half years, but at least somebody “got it”!🤡

Re: Life of a Ranger on IR

Try, "Paths Crossed - Protecting National Parks" by Ranger Cliff Edwards, for a good look from the law enforcement ranger perspective.

Re: Hammock friendly campsites

Thanks for the report. It reinforces, at least my sentiments, that hammocking on Isle Royale is, at best, limited. If one were bushwhacking, on the western end, in the hardwoods, one may have it fairly good, finding appropriate trees. Established camps, just don't offer that many opportunities. At l...

Re: Solo Kayaking inland lakes.

Welcome to the forum,

It would be of help to offer advice, if one were to know from where you would be entering the park; perhaps, how many days your visit will be?

After that info, I'm sure there will be plenty of trip plans that can be offered as suggestions.

Re: TR: 6/16/17-6/18/17 [Windigo>Todd Harbor>Rock Harbor]

Thanks -- that's really helpful. After reading the Todd Harbor outhouse graffiti some killjoy left bragging about how many cairns he or she had kicked over... One last question (these aren't idle -- the Minong Ridge is on my to-do list!): elsewhere on the island, where trials cross outcrops, the pa...

Re: Video about the wolf moose issue.

I'll second or third that.
Easy to see why the creators of that piece are award winning!
I agree with the sentiment, "Isle Royale captures you"..."it makes you come back", that the featured gal moose watch volunteer expressed.
Time to get in line for a Moose Watch team, isn't it?

Re: Strategies for Seniors

To all those that intend to purchase a senior pass, do so prior to August of this season. Word is, as stated previously on these forums, the pass price is to be increased to $80.00. Although, still a great deal at the increased price; save the $70.00 for the ferry fare!

Re: Minong Water Sources

TylerS & huntertim214, Just a FYI. I use the fill bag, that came with the squeeze, for other purposes now. I, also, felt that it was too difficult to fill, especially out of a shallow stream/water source. I added the platypus water tank to the set-up, much easier to fill in most applications https:/...

Re: Late June itinerary feedback wanted

The trail guide by Jim DuFresne gives some detail to the trails. :) MikeT of these forums, has plenty of info you may wish to explore, at his Isle Royale info site. 8) Also, the Nat Geo map is a must. If you follow the Greenstone trail on the map you can see the various elevation changes. You...

Re: Late June itinerary feedback wanted

Welcome to the forum. First you might give an idea of you and your husbands hiking experience, ages, physical condition, etc. Trails between camps are fairly easy to follow, and vary in difficulties. Off trail travel is allowed but limited/restricted at times. Headnet, Permethrin treated, DEET, are ...

Re: After Action Review: Early May backpacking trip

Thanks for the great report; you are such a valuable contributor to the forum. Please continue your mature wisdom and insight as often as possible. This season I was considering using a bivy in the shelters; the thought was to avoid having to set up my tent in the shelters. From your post, it seems ...
