I would suggest the Feldtman fire Tower as well. It offers great views of the western end of the island!

Re: Fishing East End of Isle Royale
I am not sure what the average pike is in these inland lakes. We have caught a few from the shores of Lake Ritchie and Chickenbone, but nothing of much size, maybe 24 inches or so. We did run into a couple who had caught what they said was a giant pike in Chickenbone, but who knows what they think i...

Re: How busy 2009?
Well i am not sure if it will be busier than years past, but the price of gas at $2.50 this year should increase the amount of visitors a little bit, i would think. I can see though that of all the people who have listed an itenarary on this site, noone is going to be there the same time as us. July...

Re: Fishing East End of Isle Royale
Lots of good fishing at Chickenbone and Lake Ritchie, You can expect to catch Perch, Pike and in Chickenbone, maybe even a Walleye. Not sure about Hatchett Lake. The video of the 43 inch pike on youtube was mine. I caught that beast in Chippewa Harbor. We caught all of our Pike by either casting or t...

Re: shelter vs. tent sites
I have been to Isle Royale 4 times for a total of 32 nights and have only stayed in a tent one time when the shelter was already taken at Merritt Lane CG. Of course it stormed like hell that night!! Of the 36 days I have spent on the island, it has only rained 3 times, which I think is pretty amazin...

Re: Should the forums upgrade? You get to decide.
I don't recall ever having an issue with the speed. I have DSL at home and Cable at work. I like the fact that these are no ads, but it would not make a difference to me if it did or didn't have ads. I guess my vote would be if it aint broke don't fix it. My 2 cents. Also, when is the next hosting b...

Re: Why Isle Royale?
There is no place like it! The isolation, the solitude of the island, the history of the island, the wolves & moose, the people I meet on the island, the fact that it is one of the least visited parks in the country, Lake Superior, Birch tree forests, Pine forests, bogs, orange rocks, the sounds...
