Re: Advice on itinerary - late August
We just got back a week ago, first-timers with 2 kids (13 and 16), also took water taxi from Rock Harbor to Chippewa Harbor. (We didn't visit Moskey Bay, as we looped Chickenbone Lake, but I read great things about it, especially sunrise.) I have some thoughts/suggestions you may or may not want to ...

Re: Water shoes for lakes?
Thanks for all the replies - that really helps in deciding water shoes vs. flip flops for campsites.

Water shoes for lakes?
Wondering if it's best to bring water shoes for possible swimming in Lake Ritchie, W. Chickenbone, or E. Chickenbone lakes (accessed from campgrounds)? Didn't know if those lakes have mucky bottoms. I know to expect leeches.

Re: Itinerary Advice-Chippewa Harbor to Rock Harbor
Thanks, Base654! Much appreciated!

Itinerary Advice-Chippewa Harbor to Rock Harbor
1st time trip to IR with husband and 2 kids (ages 13 and 16, both looking forward to the trip). Kids have done 2-day backpacking trip, so this will be their longest thus far. Would appreciate any advice on our plans. Would love to see moose and beavers (of course, can't count on it, but would love f...

Sleeping Bag
First timer, to arrive the week of July 17th for 4 days of hiking. Noting nighttime temps, wondering if it's better to pack our 30 degree sleeping bags or, instead, our fleece bags (lighter, more compact) in combination with sweatshirts for sleeping. Appreciate any advice.
