Re: Splitting Freeze Dried food(Mountain House)

I repack them in quart size ziplock brand freezer bags and they take the boiling water fine. My wife made a couple of cozies out of insulated fabric that help them stand up. Haven't tried splitting them, though.

I probably wouldn’t know a greenstone if I saw one.
Here's some Greenstones. I enjoy sitting on a beach and sifting through the pebbles looking for them, but always throw them back in the water. As Ed said, it's illegal to keep them.

Ingo, here is a photo I found on Google. I don't know if it is an accurate picture (I've only been on the west side of the island). Can you confirm that this photo is the stairway?
That's it! Although each building is a little different due to the locations.

Re: Rock Harbor Lodge - Disability Q

The stairs are exterior, a single flight up to a balcony. Don't know the number of steps, but a single story. There are no interior hallways, but a balcony running the length of building, typical of a 50s or 60s motel. I don't think I have a pic, but will look and post if I find one.

Re: Ranger Underway

Since it's not carrying passengers yet, it's on its own schedule delivery supplies. It's been to Windigo at least once, not sure if it goes there again this spring.

Re: May 5 Voyageur II Pushed to 12th

Stopped by the Voyageur II dock and chatted with Captain Don. Only 14 scheduled first boaters. 10 being dropped off at Windigo, 3 at McCargoe Cove, and little ole me at Chippewa Harbor. Off the grid for two weeks. No phone, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury... Or all the luxury in the wo...

Re: Feldtmann Loop vs Minong

I really enjoyed the Feldtmann Loop last year. Siskiwit is a great campground, although not west facing had a nice sunset over the ridge. Feldtmann Lake saw many moose, including in my campsite, and Rainbow Cove is beautiful--lay on the beach for the sunset (and remember your headlamp). Huginnin is ...

Fishable Lakes Chart

This chart of what fish are in which lakes used to be on the NPS site, but apparently no longer is. There's been some questions about it's accuracy, but on the whole has seemed pretty consistent with reports.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Current weather conditions for Isle Royale on web?

I think you can safely add Mount Ojibway: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-w ... ?ID=MOJIM4
Although labeled as "Welcome Island, ON" on wunderground, the coordinates and elevation appear correct (48.109 -88.607 > 1131 ft). As well as the MOJI id.
