My usual: a national parks annual pass! Any excess gets converted to darn tough socks. (I'm not mature enough to sit on unspent REI dividends.)

I had no idea until just now you could purchase an annual pass through REI. Mind blown.

I only have $27 this year, so maybe a pair of Darn Toughs or trail meals. I'm happy with all my current gear.

I would wear the shoes not just for rocks but for the mussel shell's you'll find. Those can be pretty sharp and I would not want to get sliced by one. When I was at W Chickenbone I saw several broken shells.

Daisy Farm: Had a nice time in shelter 10.
Moskey: Shelter 3 or 7. #7 has a direct view out toward the sunset.
McCargoe: Shelter #7
Lane Cove: Tent only, but I enjoyed campsite #3.

Thanks for the report and letting us know about Lane Cove, I'm still debating on giving it a try, but the prospect of wet feet before I climb up that hill on my way out is feeling less and less appealing. Apparently it's not the entire boardwalk, but about 20 feet that's supposed to be "ankle deep....
