Re: Favorite Zero Day Spots

Some good ones are already mentioned here. I'll add or echo:

* Siskiwit bay: amazing sunsets here and always quiet
* Feldtmann Lake: always quiet, few people, and Rainbow cove sunsets are astounding

Re: Feedback requested on webcam videos

Kelly, this is so cool! I didn't even know there was a camera on the Greenstone ridge until now! And I'm pretty sure I've now watched all the videos that are on there. It's very soothing! It would be nice to have another computer set up to capture images. There will be download failures on my end. T...

Re: Cross country camping

Plan ahead by perusing topo maps and satellite views. I use http://mapper.acme.com to do both. I then program coordinates into my GPS as appropriate. Make sure you practice ahead of time doing some orienteering with your GPS. I also carry a map and compass. Refer to the following thread for more de...

Re: Memorial Day weekend

You will be avoiding bugs if you go on Memorial day weekend or the first week of June. As someone pointed out, it will be 70s during the day, and 30s at night. The time of year you are choosing is my favorite time of year to go to Isle Royale for both those reasons (I can warm up at night no problem...

What are you spending your 2022 REI dividend on?

I think it's that time of year. When we REI members get to wander the aisles of REI looking at shiny and colorful things that we may or may not need to enhance our outdoor experience.

So, what are you looking to spend your 2022 REI dividend on when it gets released?

Re: 2022 Trip Log - Post your planned itinerary here!

After about five years, I'm finally going to get to take a regular trip to Isle Royale, instead of my last five trips which were restoration work trips to the Rock of Ages lighthouse (although, I'm doing that trip too) I'm also pretty pumped to finally post in this thread again :) Name: Richard Kauf...

The Rock of Ages Lighthouse Preservation Society (RoALPS) is searching for volunteers to take part in restoration work for 2022 . Volunteers get to experience a part of Isle Royale that...

I just want to help, so I always frame my advice with phrases like "In my experience," or "the last time I did that..." and "I really enjoy..."

Duluth News article on Grand Portage Isle Royale ferries

A good article, but a better video about the Grand Portage Isle Royale ferry service, with a cameo from Capt Ben and Capt Don!

"Thanking" or "liking" forum posts

Dearest Isle Royale Forums users, I've added the ability to "like" or "thank" someone for a specific post. It's similar to Facebook or Instagram's "like" feature I was inspired by Microsoft Teams' implementation of the feature on our internal chat at work: it seems like...
