Re: Canoeing the NE part of the island
Thank you John for your response. So a 3mm wetsuit would be adequate? I have read that you should dress for immersion and had thought 3mm was for warmer water. Would 5mm be overkill for paddling a canoe on Lake Superior in June?

Re: Canoeing the NE part of the island
Thank you Midwest Ed for the information on the HX300! I have been looking for the best price on that radio and have only found it for $150. I will check Hodges Marine.

Re: Canoeing the NE part of the island
Thanks Ingo for such a quick response to my questions! Do you use a wetsuit and if you do, what thickness do you use?

Canoeing the NE part of the island
Hello all, I am gearing up for a paddling trip around the NE part of the island and have some questions. I have read a lot of useful information in preparing for my trip, thanks to the good people on this forum! I plan on being dropped off at McCargo Cove and paddling to Birch Island, Pickeral Cove,...

Re: Lane Cove
I will echo what the others have said about Lane Cove. It was well worth the trip, down and and back up to the Greenstone, to camp there. I remember soaking in the shallow area of the bay and walking the shoreline to and through the portage. At the end of the portage it seemed like a nice, quiet bay...

Hay Bay Bushwack
Has anyone bushwacked south from South Lake Desor to Hay Bay using the Little Siskiwit River as a handrail or northeast from the Island Mine Trail? Is it a bad idea? Is it even worth the effort to camp at Hay Bay?

Re: Trip plan for Minong trail
I would like to add to the good information that several veterans have already posted. I was fortunate to finally backpack the Minong trail this past summer (June 2013). It was my fourth trip to paradise and I did it solo. I went from Rock Harbor to Three Mile, Moskey Basin, Todd Harbor, North Lake ...

Re: Windigo Store
Thank you very much for the information Vandy!
It looks like I will time my trip perfectly with the opening of the Windigo store.

Re: Windigo Store
Although I have been to Isle Royale a couple of times I am new to the forum. Can anyone tell me the 2012 season opening dates for the Windigo store and also the Rock Harbor grill/cafe? I am planning a trip across the island for June 6-12 and plan on leaving a resupply bag at the store for the last c...
