After 8 days on the island last June the one thing I was looking most forward to was a big pile of steaming hot fries. Guess what they didn't have?
At least the beer and brat were good.

Re: Tuna wraps!
Before I stopped eating animal products this was a standby for me. Those packs were great to add to your regular food like Ramen or Knorr sides or like you did add just to a tortilla. I also liked the foil chicken packets as well. The trash does get kind of nasty to carry around after a few days in ...

Love it! When I drove up to Copper Harbor from Chicago last June on a very planned trip I almost made it to Milwaukee before realizing I forgot... my BOOTS. I made the expensive decision to stop at REI in the Milwaukee burbs rather than make 4-hour detour to go home. My first trip was the same as yo...

Re: May 2018 McCargo-Daisy-Moskey-Chippewa
With my own early trip turning into a September trip, it’s reports like this that keep me sane. So thankful for the shared stories! As for hiker appetite, you’re not alone! I think we have a tendency to drink less water than we need causing various degrees of dehydration. One of the biggest symptoms...

Re: Fishable Lakes Chart
No fish in Hatchet or Desor? High mercury in Angleworm and Siskiwit? And I've never even heard of a pumpkinseed fish!

Re: Ranger III Reservations
Queen out of copper harbor has online reservations. Super easy and immediate, and a shorter boat ride (although a longer drive up).

Re: May 5 Voyageur II Pushed to 12th
What are the chances the first Queen IV trip on May 14th gets pushed back? I don't mind what kind of craziness is going on on the island itself, I just want to be able to get to the island. I think you’ll be fine. I’d bet money you’ll hit some snow on the island though. I’m moving my trip back a co...

Re: Opening Day Weather
I'll give it another week before pulling the trigger, but with the Voyageur postponing the first trip from 5/5 to 5/12, it looks like I'm moving my trip back 2-3 weeks. Temps in the UP not expected to go much past 40 for the rest of April. Can only imagine the Isle will still have knee-deep snow for...

Re: Adding wolves to IR, how it would work
I saw one comment on wasting tax dollars claiming that the island couldn't support 20 wolves and they'd kill each other off. There is actually some inadvertent truth in that statement (although not in the crude manner the author probably suggested). The Island once had as many as 50 wolves and ulti...

Re: Adding wolves to IR, how it would work
I don't know if you noticed the suggestion that ISRO might be closed as early as this fall to allow the unmolested introduction of the new wolves. I, for one, would gladly forgo a fall trip to make the reintroduction more manageable. Might be hard to stop people that don't take the commercial vesse...

Re: Adding wolves to IR, how it would work
I think this is the singularly most divisive issue for members on the Facebook group. Personally, I don't see how people can oppose reintroduction. Knowing the population was hit hard by human action (bringing a canine to the island and introducing parvo), and that climate change is leading to fewer...
