Re: Forum Calendar?

I haven't been able to find any way to add a calendar to the forum yet, but I'm still looking. ScoutDad: I like your suggestion with the web calendar from Brown Bear, but would like to find a way to integrate it a bit more into the original forums here. I'm contacting the developer to see if there's...

Re: Camera Question

A handy way to carry a camera or GPS is a little pocket that first perfectly on nearly any backpack shoulder strap from Granite Gear: http://granitegear.com/products/accesso ... ocket.html

It might not fit all point & shoot cameras, but it's worth a shot as it's turbo handy.

Re: Google Maps website appears to have updated...

I know this is an old thread, but upnorthjeeper, you are correct, as I just checked out IR on Google Maps. Additionally, the completely awesome (free) application Google Earth has been updated as well. Very, very handy. It's also got a lot of overlays for pictures and Wikipedia entries from users. V...

Re: How'd you get your screen name?

I believe that most of these "screen names" are sort of throw-backs to the days of CB radio "handles", What the hell is a "CB radio?" My screen name came from an episode of "South Park," along time ago that contained something called "monkey phonic...

Re: Hanging food at campsites?

What about hard plastic tupperware type containers with tight fitting lids as opposed to stuff sack bags or put inside stuff sack bags for hanging. They don't add much weight but do add piece of mind. I've never heard of anyone doing this yet, but it seems like it could work. Conversely, I've seen ...

Re: weather and bugs

Maybe the flies hadn't hatched yet when we went? I would suspect that the dry conditions recently thwarted many bugs. But now that it's rained, I would expect them to return in force. We had rain the first half of trip, and high's in the low 60's during day, low's in the upper 40's to 50 at night. ...

Re: Obscured registration code too obscured.

Greetings Don! Welcome to the forum, and thanks for the heads-up. Yes, you are right...problems with the forum need to be brought up so I can fix them. And, in light of your complaint, I've turned down the registration settings a bit to make it a little easier to see. The problem, I believe, lies wi...

I'm told AT&T phones can work from the rocks above Chippewa. Have not been able to confirm this myself.

Re: Camera Question

Check out Panasonic Lumix cameras. Seconded (or rather, thirded and fourth-ed). I got a Panasonic Lumix camera for Christmas and it rocks. Great pictures for a point and shoot and the wide-angle lens is phenomenal. I've never had a battery life problem and that camera has seen some tough use, espec...

Re: Forum Calendar?

I've looked into trying to do something like this, but extending the forum software is all hard and hurty if you aren't a programmer (which I'm not). Some other type of method for logging trip reports (in an order, such as by date), is the number one priority for the forum. Still, thanks for the sug...

Re: Food thread?

Welcome to the forums, Nitsirk! This isn't a bad idea. We usually throw these types of suggestions up to the board to see how they feel about it. Would we want to see a permanent thread for recipes/food, or a complete new sub forum for it? A thread would appear, more than likely, under the Gear &...
