We have come to the conclusion to keep everyone happy, we leave the tuna at home. when you are hiking for 5 or more days, things like tuna become a ...

The first trip I used tablets and filtered, but i have never gotten sick, and never gotten thirsty. I have found sometimes its easier to carry just a ...

Re: Amount of water for a trip

hello all
I have found out that on hot days 2 nalgenes each isnt enough, for long hikes so I also carry a 70 ounce camelback. it never hurts to have a back up supply.

hi everyone,
after tasting almost everything mountain house makes this summer on 3 trips, I have to say I am very satisfied with the new breakfast skillet, I have eaten 4 between the ap trail and IR. Great on tortilla, and one meal will feed 2 men, or 3 women. Yum

I think your trip itinerary is fine. I did it my first trip to the island and I was not in shape. Enjoy

Re: 2010 Trip Log - Add your planned itinerary here!

Hello
We arrived on the Voyager on wed morning, headed for washington creek. Attended all the ranger talks, and canoed twice. We changed shelters for different views. Plans change, what can I say. Headed home Sunday. Was great.

Re: New to Windigo

Hello everyone. This being our 4th trip to the island, and the second time doing the feldtmann loop, I can say I agree 100% about going Feldtmann first. There is however a great reason for this besides all the others. If you leave siskwit and head to island mine, you can probably carry enough water ...

Re: Report on latest IR Wolf/Moose numbers!

Last August while staying the night at siskiwit I saw a cow and calf from the shelter dead across the bay at the trail entrance Just by luck I looked out the shelter and saw her moving along the shore line, I think I gave the other campers a heart attack when I realized the calf was behind her. Then...

Re: Ideas for a 4 night stay

May I suggest a stroll from rock harbor to mccargoe cove, then to w. chickenbone, take the greenstone to Lane cove and then last night at Rock harbor, explore the trails all around this end of the island. This is an enjoyable and doable hike.
