Re: Kayakers rescued from Superior

Re: Your input requested on my route & my boat...

The trip you propose sounds doable as you have incorporated weather days into your itinerary. The paddle on Siskiwit can be challenging depending on the wind speed and direction, keep that in mind. It would be good to have a Weather radio of some sort. The paddle from Birch Isle to Belle Isle can be...

Re: Batten down the hatches. A bad storm is looming!

The Slate Islands Bouy recorded a 26.2' wave yesterday. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=45136 I think Passage Island probably had waves breaking near the lighthouse!! We (niners and I) drove to Holland MI, yesterday. The "show" was incredible, well worth the drive. I will...

I re-certified a few months ago and learned to use an AED (which is pretty simple as the device gives you voice commands to follow in it...

Re: The "Rudest" Isle Royale Circumnavigation, August 2010(l

John, I have an assortment of deep diving rapalas and storm lures that I use for trolling, and hot and tots occasionally. My set up now for trolling is pretty nice, very short "EMMROD," that I can shoot right off my deck and it doesnt interfere with my paddling. The rods are pretty nice, ...

Yellowstone and the Tetons

A few weeks ago we went to Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons National Parks, our 2nd trip, my 3rd trip there. For those who love to watch wildlife, Yellowstone is unmatched IMHO, for wildlife opportunities. The previous trip was a kind of “get to the know the lay of the land trip”. This trip, we head...
