Re: May 2018 McCargo-Daisy-Moskey-Chippewa
Thanks, Jerry for sharing your journey. The moose encounters sure do help one slow down, don't they? :) Adding a comment addressing hiker dehydration. One will, most likely, never come across an expired hiker with an empty food sack and a liter of water in his canteen. Noo one, most likely, drinks e...

Re: Windigo Cabins
IRexpat, Perhaps trying to address your issue with the park service, may work? Convincing your wife the shelter is just as good, even better, than the cabin! (Moose/mice ambling through your camp site along the creek) Or, actually being on the Isle, when a cancellation does happen,...

Welcome,
Siskiwit Bay, Hay Bay, Malone Bay fit your inquiry; there are numerous others that may also work.
Departure/arrival point is a key consideration.
Good luck with the planning.

Re: Shifting Magnetic North Pole
I just finished the book. Thanks for the recommendation. Great read. History, physics, biology, and a journey to the Center of the Earth ! It's relative about, Isle Royale Rocks; it's why we're all attracted to the Isle. :P That electromagnetic attraction laid down in the basalt, millions of years a...

Lakes' Richie and Intermediate, "canoe camps", are in different areas of the lake, than current positions.

It only took two and a half years, but at least somebody “got it”!

Try, "Paths Crossed - Protecting National Parks" by Ranger Cliff Edwards, for a good look from the law enforcement ranger perspective.

Re: Hammock friendly campsites
Thanks for the report. It reinforces, at least my sentiments, that hammocking on Isle Royale is, at best, limited. If one were bushwhacking, on the western end, in the hardwoods, one may have it fairly good, finding appropriate trees. Established camps, just don't offer that many opportunities. At l...

Re: Solo Kayaking inland lakes.
Welcome to the forum,
It would be of help to offer advice, if one were to know from where you would be entering the park; perhaps, how many days your visit will be?
After that info, I'm sure there will be plenty of trip plans that can be offered as suggestions.

Re: TR: 6/16/17-6/18/17 [Windigo>Todd Harbor>Rock Harbor]
Thanks -- that's really helpful. After reading the Todd Harbor outhouse graffiti some killjoy left bragging about how many cairns he or she had kicked over... One last question (these aren't idle -- the Minong Ridge is on my to-do list!): elsewhere on the island, where trials cross outcrops, the pa...

I'll second or third that.
Easy to see why the creators of that piece are award winning!
I agree with the sentiment, "Isle Royale captures you"..."it makes you come back", that the featured gal moose watch volunteer expressed.
Time to get in line for a Moose Watch team, isn't it?
