I like the ability to like/thank the author of a post without having to add another post.
The star rating at the bottom of the post and the metrics at the very right under the username/picture ("Has thanked", "Been thanked") are a unnecessary distraction, IMO.

Re: Water filter
SteriPENs and other UV purifiers have not been manufacturer-tested for hydatid tapeworm, a common parasite found in Isle Royale waters and cannot be considered effective.

Re: Pit Stop ranger presentation
Necessary. No formal ranger presentation, but there is a brief Leave No Trace talk upon arrival in Windigo, and one can obtain a permit if being dropped off at McCargoe Cove or Belle Isle. Campers bound for Rock Harbor get theirs when they reach their destination.

Re: 1st IR trip - June 19-27, 2021
Rather than retrace a large portion of your hike back to Windigo, why don't you catch the inbound (to Grand Portage MN) Voyageur II ferry at Chippewa Harbor or Daisy Farm on 6/27? From Hatchet Lake maybe go to Todd Harbor and/or McCargoe Cove, and then down to Moskey Basin and end your hike at one o...

Re: Hammock friendly campsites
Hammocks: In campgrounds, hammocks may only be used within the existing impacted area of designated tent sites and not in the surrounding trees. Hammocks may not be hung at shelter sites or inside shelters. Permissible hammock locations may not be available; plan on bringing a tent. Choose trees wi...

Re: Clothing in June
- add lower base layer but only 1 pair of pants. Only use base layer in camp and can sleep in them if needed. Will wear base layer/rain pants in camp if convertibles need drying out. I agree that only 1 pair of pants are needed. I also bring a base layer (lightweight long underwear bottoms and top)...

Hobbes - Great report. Always appreciate a "Gear Notes" section that describes what worked or didn't work. Interesting route; did your original itinerary include spending the last 3 nights at Feldtmann Lake?

Re: Agate Beach
Going via the shoreline is next to impossible. If you still want to do this, follow the tops of the ridges out to Agate Beach. I've done a lot of off-trail camping and bushwacking on Isle Royale. Staying on the higher ridges is the best way to go. Good compass and/or GPS skills are a must.

Re: 2021 Trip Advice: Minong Ridge, to Daisy Farm
Three years ago, in early September, a portion of my hike was from Huginnin Cove to N. Lake Desor via the Minong Ridge Trail. I had a back country permit (which by the way is straightforward to obtain) and was planning on off-trail camping somewhere in between those two destinations. I never found a...

Great trip report!
I liked the ample use of layover (zero mile) days.
