Re: Does anyone ever paddle from the mainland to Isle Royale?
John and Ann Mahan routinely cross over in their tandem kayak, but they are very experienced paddlers. I would not recommend it, though. The Vouaguer II can take you anywhere you want to go. Here is a link to their web page: http://sweetwatervisions.com/index.html In one of their books, they have a ...

Backup glasses. Do you have any idea how hard it is to read a novel using the magnifying glass end of a Silva Compass held up against one eye while you hold the book two inches away from your face and read line by line?

Re: Kayak Pre-planning trip
I just got back. I went out on the first boat and, for the first time ever, cut my trip short. Worst spring weather in memory. Three days of good paddling, then five days of gales and strong winds with no hope for improvement. That said, your trip is totally dependent on the weather. We took the VII...

Or, just pay for the extra freight when you make your reservation. That has worked well for me in the past.

I don't think you are right. I just checked the satellite image. Are you sure you did not look at last summer's photos?

Re: Maps
I hope you are paddling. If that is the National Geographic map, it is fine. It even shows water distances. If you are paddling around Blake Point, be careful and go around on a calm day. The confluence of the West/East waters can be nasty.

Re: I have my NR All Species MI Fishing License
Another Thought for the Day: Give JohnH a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach JohnH to fish and he'll stink for years. Boats are all packed. Did a final inventory and don't know where I'm going to put all this stuff. Loading the truck up today. Meeting my paddle partner on Thursday at the Soo. Then,...
My daughter now has the Frostline down vest I sewed in college (I outgrew it ) Wish they were still around too!
Funny, I gave my vest to my daughter as well. It was the only Frostline product I ever bought that shrank!

Thank you for supporting my state. It is nice to know that you are contributing to the environment with absolutely no environmental impact.

EMTs responded to Nick's house at 2:59 PM EST. They found Nick collapsed on the floor in front of his computer. While the Medical Examiner has not yet issued a final cause, it is believed he died from shock! It looks like JohnH finally got the last word!johnhens wrote:I agree with nick,

Re: Posting a Word File to the Board
The files are several pages long and conversion to .pdf is not a problem. Do I just insert them in a message or is there a folder in the forum where I can post them? The only reason I would not want to put them in .pdf format is that they are tables designed to be re-ordered lists. Could I send the ...

Re: First timer...suggestions?
That's a great plan, BUT avoid East Chickenbone at all costs. It is probably the worst camp site on the island. Sits high on a hill with no shade at that time of year and the water supply is quite a long way away at the bottom of a hill. I'd suggest you either try to get over to McCargo Cove or go f...
