Re: Guess What Campground? Chapter II.
I bushwacked there in that picture at Blake. It was hard with a lot of decisions and doubling back a couple of times towards the end to avoid ravines, but beautiful country. If the water is dangerous I would walk out there again, but paddling is much easier and it is easy to land at. I recorded the ...

Re: Newbie Late June Trip
Base654 is right on the money. I would add a couple of things... - Getting off the boat, Daisy can be hard to make in bad weather. Leave the possibility of Three-Mile open on the first day. Also, think about taking the Tobin Harbor trail for the first section. It is a bit longer, but much easier. Es...

Re: Itinerary Feedback--late May to early June
Itinerary looks good except, as noted by others, I would not want to chance the long walk from Moskey to Rock Harbor. It is not hard, but it is also not easy. There are a few difficult sections, especially if the weather is bad. I agree with Ingo, I'd skip Little Todd and the doubling back the next ...

Re: McCargoe to Daisy Farm: decisions, decisions
I wasn't sure when I read it if I read it right. If that is what was asked, I agree with Tightlines for sure! However, either way is not bad and has its share of views.

Re: McCargoe to Daisy Farm: decisions, decisions
West by far!!!! East is not a nice campground. The worst one on the island in my opinion. Not great scenery or vistas and terrible water access. The only plus is moose can be found at the lake, but it is a long walk down. I would stay at west and walk down to Daisy. Stop at east and see what you did...

Re: Daisy Farm
For a hammock tent sites #2 & 3 are perfect. There are nice solid trees and they are right next to the pavilion so, if it is raining, it will give you a dry place to sit.

Re: Daisy Farm
The tent sites at Daisy are not very good. The first two, on the west side are right next to the pavilion and close to one and other. The other 4 are on the far east side and are also close to one and other. I would always choose a shelter over any one of the tent sites here.

Re: Windigo Camper Cabin Question
There are no fire rings at the cabins. They provide a propane grill with the cabin. There is a community fire ring in the amphitheater, but I have never had a fire there, but I think the rangers have fires during the peak season.

Re: Greenstone--Hatchet to Chickenbone question
Hoh River: That's a tough choice. Hatchet to Chickenbone probably has the most scenic vistas along the Greenstone. The trail across from the Greenstone to the Minong is nothing special, but Todd Harbor is great. If this is going to be a one time trip to the island, I guess I would cut across to Todd...

I also like this thread. Such Fun!
My guess: Siskiwit Bay
Based on the sun position, dock type and background of the Greenstone Ridge.

Re: Feldtmann Lake Loop to Huginnin Cove (Advice Needed)
Day 1 - Arrive at Windigo via plane and hike to Feldtmann Lake (8.8 miles). Day 2 - Hike from Feldtmann Lake to Siskiwit Bay (10.3 miles). Day 3 - Hike from Feldtmann Lake to Huginin Cove (14.4 miles (long day!!)) or hike to Washington Creek (11 miles). Day 4 - Catch plane back to Houghton, MI (wou...
