Not sure what your hiking experience is...and Moskey to RH can be done in one day, but I wouldn't try it on such a deadline. Might consider doing W. Chickenbone to Daisy on Sunday...it'd give you a little more time on the Greenstone.

Re: Daisy Farm
I'll take a shelter if I have to, but hoping I can find suitable trees for a hammock which will give me a much more restful sleep...also hopefully won't have too much competition for sites on Memorial Day..

Daisy Farm
I'm embarrased to ask since I've stayed once (group site) and lunched there on another trip, but I can't remember. Are there any tent sites at Daisy, besides the group sites?

Re: [Tool] Isle Royale Trip Planner Spreadsheet
Whoa! since I started using Google Drive, I decided to play with this and find it to be very useful to compare different scenarios...now to convince my hiking partner that by adding a few more miles and a few more hours of hiking we can knock out the Feldtman loop along with our Minong/Greenestone r...

Mail drop to Windigo
Hello all, after skipping a 2016 visit, I'm making plans for my 3rd visit in early June, 2017. Planning a big trip before my sidekick (aka. my son) has to start adulting and the inherent schedule conflicts that come with adulthood. The goal is to sail on the Queen Memorial Day to Rock Harbor and the...

Re: Proposed user fee increase
My initial thought on this was negative, increasing the cost to take a trip... however, buying the yearly pass makes sense for two and even better for three or four person party. It certainly isn't going to deter me from visiting again and if the added fees stay with the park, then it's well worth i...

Re: First Trip to IR! Advice welcomed!
My thoughts: 3 mile is a great camping spot and depending on route selection allows you to see the views of Canada from Mount Franklin. Never been to East Chickenbone; heard its ho hum and access to water is difficult. Moskey to Rock Harbor will be a long day.

Re: Tent or Hammock?
I am usually a hammock camper, however National Parks tend to be a challenge in finding suitable trees. I have seen trip reports where hangers have made it work, but that wasn't generally my experience on IR. Camps I remember using my hammock: Lane Cove, Moskey and West Chickenbone. I camped at Hatc...

Re: Making water safe to drink
Check the Greenstone or contact the Rangers, but if I remember correctly, chemical treatment isn't consider to sufficient to protect against tapeworm eggs. Filters are the preferred method.

Re: Books
I found Jim DuFresne's guidebook useful. Can't speak on any other books about IR as I haven't read any of them.

Re: Isle Royale National Park narrows wolf study
Nice article... Though Isle Royale is officially part of Michigan and the author claimed it for Minnesota.
