The perception that boaters "take over" docks irks me a bit. The docks are for BOATS. They are our only option for access to the island(s).

Hay Bay is popular with boaters, particularly those that come to the island to fish (fishing is good on the SW end of the island). So it's likely you'll find it in use. I spent a night there. This is why paddlers should carry a marine VHF radio. You can hail the rangers right there rather than reporting it after the fact.

Gimp, I am a boater and I hate hearing stories like that. You were absolutely right to report them.
