Tuna wraps!
During me and my brothers trip, we discovered versatile Starkists Tuna Creation packets could be a great trail meal and especially on a budget. We enjoyed them most in wraps with the Frank's Red Hot flavor. Packs a great protein punch when feeling deficient. I used these as a contingency plan incase...

I think we ran into you, possibly. Atleast my brother and I ran into someone going to ECB. I wanted to caution you about the water source being far away but when you're actually on IR, didnt feel its a place to give a stranger input. You/They warned us about some possible moose about 1.5 away from W...

We left Copper Harbor for the Queen on a mild, foggy morning. The ride to IR was smooth while the fog didnt break until we were roughly 20 miles outside of the park and her silhouette finally emerged. It would be my second time there but a first for my brother and we started to get anxious for what ...

Welcoming folks to Isle Royale's subreddit!
Reddit is the front page of the internet and a vast library of information for all walks of life and there is one specifically for IR. Its still a small community over there and we definitely dont have all of the knowledgeable posts like here but its a different platform I feel is better fit for the...

Re: Water Taxi
Great! Thanks for the tips! Next year we plan to go later in the season. Island was filled with loud obnoxious people last week during peek.

Re: Water Taxi
That's pretty much what I was thinking with "buying back" days. Are they able to take us right when we get off the Queen? I assume they will with a reservation but I'd hate to burn a day at Rock Harbor. Even though it was fun being in "civilzation" for our last night.

Re: Water Taxi
Thanks for the link. $195 to Chippewa seems a little pricy but it'll save us a lot of time which makes it worth it.
Are these private or park owned boats they take us on? I guess that would determine an appropriate number for a tip.

First IR Moose
Got to see one and it was awesome. Big ole' cow at the pond GD told me to be at around 7am. Woke up a little after 6am and took a light pack up there with a book thinking I may have to wait a bit but nope, she was right there as we turned the corner. She didn't hang around too long after she noticed...

Re: Katadyn Water Filter
It worked awesome on the trip. The 6 liter bag was great and I could store for morning use and have some nice cool water to fill my bottle up before hitting the trail. So glad I switched from the bulky LifeStraw. Packs light and compact. Definitely will recommend to anyone looking for a new filter. ...

great idea with the bandana, treeratt. I also have one with printing only on one side and think I'll use that trick!
