I didn't see this mentioned elsewhere and thought it fell within the category of "Miscellaneous". The Quiet Water Symposium is being held at the MSU Livestock & Agriculture Pavillion in Lansing on Saturday, the 5th of March. The schedule reflects that Jim DuFresne will be speaking on Michigan's "Top 10 Backpacking Treks" (I assume IR must be on that list) and Thomas Hurst will be presenting "Isle Royale: Wolves, Moose, Paddling and Kids in a Superior Wilderness. There are over thirty presentations scheduled involving backpacking, canoeing, kayaking and cycling.
If the roads and weather are fairly clear I'll be attending to listen to presentations on Algonquin and the Georgian Bay coastline among others. The full schedule and list of exhibitors can be found on the quietwatersymposium.org website.
