This is great to hear! Maybe now they can make the Duncan-Tobin portage flat! :mrgreen:

Yes! ...And could they clean up those trails of all those rocks and roots? That would be a big help. :wink:

I hear they are putting a lift to get over the ridge according to ADA guidlines.

To you and me $158,000 sounds like a giant windfall. To a government operated park, well, lets just hope that amount of money can even make a noticeable difference. It would be interesting to know how the distribution of funds were determined. I see the national monument in Grand Portage got over 3/4 of a million to replace trailers I didn't know existed. Not that I'm inferring that the monument is not deserving, I do know that the monument's operating budget pales in comparison to IR's budget. Hopefully the people in charge of allocating these funds at the individual park level will spend wisely. With the current uproar over government spending I don't know how many more of these funding programs we'll see.

I support this idea for a detour of the Duncan-Tobin portage. It does not have to be paved like this though, dirt trail is fine with me. :D
