Why the idiots who cut this tree down did so is beyond me !! :cry:

It was a sad day. People were talking about this all over in Duluth. Didn't think it was national news, however!

Wow, I have been on that road many many times and was unaware of this tradition. That is sad. I hope they plant a new tree right next to it!

That's too bad. Even though I don't live in Minnesota it is sad to hear that a piece of local history/meaning is now gone. Obviously, someone with too much time on their hands and no respect for property which doesn't belong to them. Unfortunately, it seems like that's usually the case.
