Posting Photos

I knew how to do this at one time, but can you give me some guidance on posting photos. Do I need to use a photo sharing web site? If so, which ones? Thanks.

Yes, you need to use a hosting service, although you can also use the "attachment" function.

We've made using a hosting service easier than the "attachments" option so the size of the forums doesn't grow and become unwieldy. Most of the common photo-hosting services are supported, but I would use Imgur if I were you (it's the easiest and fastest)

A FAQ is located here on how to post a photo from a hosting service: faq.php#f3r3

Quick example:

Code: Select all

Gets you:

Also, please note that certain websites will automatically embed content from other supported sites automatically when you paste the link into a post. Suported sites include these listed about 1/3 of the way down the page here: https://github.com/s9e/XenForoMediaBBCodes

For example, this:

Code: Select all

Gets you this:

You can use any photo hosting site that allows you to assign a URL to a picture. Some folks use Flickr. Being a camera nut, I use a specific photo site (Leica Users Gallery). I size my pics to 1,000 pixels on the long side. This seems to give a photo that isn't too large or too big. Posting a pic isn't that hard, once you figure out the icons on the toolbar at the top of the "full editor" page.

I use photo bucket for mine and you can copy a share link directly from your photos on that site to share here.
