Apostle Island ice caves

Post by tree rattt »

I called about the ice caves today, they are still closed. It sounds like a very good chance that they will be open by the weekend. I would check them out if you get a chance. Deffinately use ice cleats and ski or treking poles for safety. It is about a mile to the caves and the caves go for a couple of miles after that.A day pack with extra clothes and other winter gear would also be a good thing. The trail can be a little rough in spots.Inside the caves is glare ice.

For anyone interested, always call first. Conditions can change quick. The phone number is 715-779-3397 option 3.
