Starbucks Via instant coffee is great for backpacking. It's small for packing (form of a small foil tube similar to a straw) and better tasting than expected.

Backpacker breakfast
Sliced almonds 3C
chopped walnuts 1C
chopped pecans 1C
honey 1/3 C & coconut oil 1/3 C bring to a boil together w/a big dash of vanilla & cinnamon
drizzle over nuts & spread it around
9 minutes @ 350 on cookie sheets lined w/foil
Cool, bag, >backpack.
Eat cold or w/almond milk if you must

It's either oatmeal with dehydrated fruit or I'll dehydrate hash browns and turkey sausage. I try to always have coffee with me.

That sounds delicious, I'll have to try that sometime.

I am not a coffee drinker, but I bought some of the Starbucks Via for my wife. She is a bit snooty with her coffee, but did say she thought this was pretty good stuff.

Cheers,

New breakfast idea here. Quaker is making "Oatmeal to Go" breakfast bars. I have tired the brown sugar cinnamon that MySweetRamona bought for me at the grocery store ( not sure if these are really new or not). They are really pretty good, and are roughly about the size of a Clif bar. I am not really a coffee drinker anyway, so I am going to try these on our upcoming trip.

Camp Chow Food: http://shop.trailcenterlodge.com/CAMP-CHOW_c2.htm
They have ten breakfast items now and their menu is regularly expanding.
Way better than traditional camp food, with choices like hashbrowns with wild mushrooms and pork sausage gravy.

We did not do a lot of hot breakfasts but oatmeal is great and you can always add a few dried bananas. Dried fruit is your best friend on the Island.

We would get up, have some dried fruit and almonds then on our first rest we would break out a beef stick. If I knew string cheese would keep well I would bring that along for a snack as well. Dried Cherries are good and dried mangoes are very yummy. I mowed through those!

I like to fry bacon just as the hikers are coming down to the dock to filter water...

Thats like dumping out the last bit of a cold beer when hikers pull into camp. Sheesh.

I like Apple Cinnamon oatmeal and banana chips for breakfast. Or if you are not a big breakfast eater (or just don't want to set up the cooking gear) you can start a hike and then stop for some dried fruit and a power bar. I must say that we don't do "death marches"......I told my boyfriend he can save those for him and his buddies!!! :P
