Anyone have a recent berry update?

Post by Tightlines01 »

Hey all,

Travel day tomorrow and boat over on Saturday. I'm bringing my boys (11 year old twins) on their 2nd trip to the Isle, one LOVES berries. Was hoping to have some ripe Thimbleberries. Anyone been on the island recently that knows how their coming. Should be pretty close by now from memory. We're going from McCargoe to Malone for what it's worth...

Thanks
Andy

saw some over ripe thimble berries and under ripe blueberries over the last week. There were some blueberry bushes that were fully loaded though so they should be ripe soonish.

I ate ripe wild raspberries this week in Houghton/Higgins Lakes area of southern MI.

I realize that is far... south of IR, but, with the micro-climates of the Isle, I would be searching for patches, now, on the southern facing ridges.

My guess is, it's "harvest" time from now until frost. Search and find and enjoy. 8)
