Private seaplane

Post by skibike69 »

So a friend of mine has offered to fly me to the island on his seaplane... Any restrictions on private aircraft landing at the park? I am not an aviator, so I don't know the rules.

That sounds cool! But I've heard that a special permit is required and only Royale Air Service out of Houghton is able to make the run.

There was a problem a few years ago when the former seaplane service stopped making runs, and I think it was a year before the current service stepped in to fill the niche as "an Authorized Concessioner of the National Park Service."

I'm quoting hear-say, so please let us know if you find out anything official!

"Any restrictions?" Absolutely! Minimally were you could land. A call to the park service office should quickly answer whether it's even feasible or not (and the only way to get definitive answers).
