VII in Grand Portage and the Office is open

Post by johnhens »

Capt. Don was finally able to get the VII to GP after the ice blew out of Duluth. I called this AM (GP)to make reservations and they are up and running.

Woo hoo! Thanks for the update John. Packing is almost done. Driving to GP tonight and hitting the boat tomorrow.

Will do. We're hoping to play on the Minong but we're very flexible. We'll go where we can.

Leaving for the Minong on Saturday.......the only question I have is will Washington Harbor be accessible? Not that it matters much......anywhere on the island will work. :D

Satellite image from yesterday--looks like Washington Harbor has opened up, but it's a little hard to tell for sure:

But as you said, anywhere works :).

If the VII had a live cam I would have gotten some popcorn and taken the day off!

I'm all for the "live cam". What do you think Don?? WE need a live feed of course too. I know you have nothing else to do :D

From GP FB page:

UPDATE: The Voyageur II completed this spring's first circumnavigation of the island yesterday. We were able to make all scheduled stops on our regular route, and we expect all upcoming trips will run as scheduled with the bays being iced over no longer a concern. Looking forward to a great season!
