Recommendation: Caldera Cone Stove System

Post by Tortuga »

If you're in the market for a new stove system, I humbly submit the Trail Design brand's Caldera Cone system for your consideration.

It's a lightweight, alcohol-burning, soda-can stove with an innovative windshield that doubles as a pot stand. Water boils quickly and everything breaks down to fit in a tote just a bit bigger than a pint glass. The system is lightweight, reliable in any weather, and durable. I use the yellow HEET as my fuel. They pair the windscreen with your specific pot, which I think is a great feature.

I've been backpacking for several years now and have taken this on many trips along the Superior Hiking Trail and Isle Royale. This is the ONLY piece of backpacking equipment I have not replaced/upgraded and I can't see myself leaving it anytime soon.
