First timer, to arrive the week of July 17th for 4 days of hiking. Noting nighttime temps, wondering if it's better to pack our 30 degree sleeping bags or, instead, our fleece bags (lighter, more compact) in combination with sweatshirts for sleeping. Appreciate any advice.

I've seen low 40s in July by the lake (although 50ish more typically). I'd bring the 30 deg bags. There's no good forecast that's going to tell you what it's going to be where you're at, and the lake has a huge effect.

Always take the warmer sleeping bag to IR.

Clear skies and a north wind can make it dip into the upper 30s to low 40s, especially on the north side, even in August. Bring the warmer bags or bring additional thermal layers and a wool hat and thick wool socks.
