 Itinerary for first visit
We will be visiting in a mid-August. We're in average shape. We'd like to do a little fishing at some point. It seems like Chickenbone would be the idea place to fish, but we're certainly open to other options. Any thoughts on which of these itineraries would be best, or any alternate suggestions?
Option 1 Tuesday: (arrive 3pm on Ranger III in Rock Harbor) - hike 7.1 miles to Daisy Lane Wednesday: hike 6.1 miles to Chickenbone East Thursday: hike 10.9 miles to Lane Cove Friday: hike 6.9 miles to Rock Harbor Saturday: (leave 9am on Ranger III from Rock Harbor)
Option 2 Tuesday: (arrive 3pm on Ranger III in Rock Harbor) - hike 7.1 miles to Daisy Lane Wednesday: hike 7.9 miles to Chickenbone West Thursday: hike 12.5 miles to Three Mile Friday: hike 2.7 miles to Rock Harbor Saturday: (leave 9am on Ranger III from Rock Harbor)
Thanks! Eric

 Re: Itinerary for first visit
Lake Richie is known as the best place to catch northern, but Chickenbone is a good fishing lake too. The East Chickenbone campground is one of the 2 least favorite campgrounds on the island, so do West Chickenbone if you go that route (it's nice).

 Re: Itinerary for first visit
Ingo: thanks for all of your tips. Ritchie is a good idea. I'm having trouble coming up with an itinerary to go there and back without too much backtracking. Do you have any suggestions? We will arrive in Rock Harbor on a Tuesday afternoon and would like to be back in Rock Harbor by Friday night.
Regarding Option 2 that I outlined above, do you think the 12.5 miles trek from West Chickenbone to Three Mile (or 12.9 miles to Lane Cove) would be too much for one day?
Thanks again, Eric
