IncaRoads that was a interesting bushwack.Sounds like a good hike.The cutoff seem like it saved some serious time and mileage. Pretty cool!

Sorry to come late to this topic, but I think you’ll find this interesting.
There was once an overland trail from Malone Bay to the Lake Richie / Chippewa Harbor Portage… I am going to post it in the history section with details as it seems more the place to put it.
As a tease, you are right, it looks "bushwackable" as Tom said. May not even be bushwhacking as the island tends to recover slowly from disruption even if almost a hundred years ago {TEASE }
