Backcountry camping

Post by chief54 »

Does anybody have or could steer me to newest info on backcountry camping. Post on this site is from 2010 and wonder it there is anything newer. I am an astrophotographer and would like to do some shots from and or near the firetower by Daisy Farms. If weather is clear, Milky Way will be visible from the southeast/ south arcing over to northwest during new moon May/June of next year. Optimum time for shooting are between 12:30am - 3:40am. I could stay at Daisy and hike up in dark but would prefer not to. A shot I have in my mind is with tower in foreground with Milky Way arching over. Attached is an image of Death Valley this past spring with loom of Las Vegas over a 100 miles away.

The post originated in 2010 but has been updated several times as appropriate. Those are the current regulations and they have not changed in years.
