USCG Paddle Smart Identification Stickers

Post by johnhens »

I came across an article about Paddle Smart Identification Stickers in Sea Kayaker. The USCG provided stickers are placed on your kayak or canoe and paddles ect. In the event you experience "problems" and are sperated from your gear, the sticker has your name and phone numbers to contact facilitating rescue efforts (or preventing large scale SAR missions).

Anyone that is interested in receiving these stickers, I have some that are being sent to me. PM me with your name and address and I will send them your way.
I was also told you can check with your local USCG station as they should be receiving them soon (in the Great Lakes District Nine at least)

This is a great idea. I have a friend who found a kayak adrift in the Apostles. He left it with the CG in Bayfield, and never did find out if anyone claimed it.
