Thinking of a Fishing Trip This Time

Post by hooky »

After last year's trip to the island, my first, I'd like to go back this year and make it a fishing excursion. Not sure if I'll do it in a kayak or canoe yet, but I'm wondering what time of the year would be best for fishing the inland lakes. i'm assuming it doesn't vary too much depending on the lake. Any thoughts on timing from the folks who have done this before?

I've done 4 trips, all around the first or second week of august and the fishing has been amazing for all species that I have targeted....walleye, pike, and we have been lucky enough for salmon (3x)

I've done 3 trips all in late May / early June and the fishing has been great. The first two trips we fished Ritchie and Chickenbone from shore and did well. The last trip was a kayak / canoe trip through Chippewa Harbor, Whittlesey and Wood and we did VERY well.

I plan on heading back again on May 31st this year if that's any indicator
