Fishing

Is it true there are no fish in lake desor and lake hatchet? Ill be there in less tahn 3 weeks and will not have a boat but expect to catch fish. Can anyone tell me the best lakes to fish and where to fish them?

According to the park service, Desor and Hatchet are devoid of fish. Follow this link for NPS fishing info:

Note the lakes with fish containing high mercury... Many years ago I read about a study of sediments in Sisikiwit that contained chemicals only ever known to be used on cotton fields in the south. Since prevailing winds don't blow from south to north, it was concluded they had been carried around the globe one or more times.

I would be interested in the explanation of no fish in Desor and Hatchet, although maybe the real question is how did the fish get into any of the lakes?

That is odd that Desor has no game fish, I think it is because it is not connected to lake Superior by any water, not even any wet swamps., Hatchet may have winterkill? It is very shallow

Lake Desor has at least the Lake Desor Whitefish, one of which I caught way back in the 70s or 80s.
