Weather - Leaving in two days

Post by scotty »

Hey everyone I am going to be on the isle the 13th to the 18th. I'm kinda upset it seems like it is going to storm the whole trip.. What do you guys think of the weather? Should I expect constant rain most of the trip? I'm hoping it will rain for a bit and be clear the rest of the day. Also should I be concerned about the possible thunderstorms?

Lets hope it changes for the better!

Storms are always possible at IR, although mainland forecast isn't the most reliable predictor for them. They will crop up at random. Maine radio is probably best. You can also check this:

Fonix is right, the weather sites often report nearby 'mainland' probabilities, and therefore aren't always very accurate. The NWS in Marquette issues an IR specific forecast twice a day, I think; this is the one you'll see posted at ranger stations on the Isle:

That's as close to an island specific forecast we're going to get...

HI Scotty, lesson learned in the past, make friends with your raingear. Good raingear can be the difference between a great trip and a frigid nasty one.
