First IR Moose

Post by MattC »

Got to see one and it was awesome. Big ole' cow at the pond GD told me to be at around 7am. Woke up a little after 6am and took a light pack up there with a book thinking I may have to wait a bit but nope, she was right there as we turned the corner. She didn't hang around too long after she noticed us. At least a few seconds in order for me to snap a pic. Wish I could've had a chance to zoom in. She then hopped out of the pond and gracefully up into the brush and the sound of her hooves hitting the ground I could feel in my chest. Was an amazing experience for my wife and I.

Exciting indeed. Most likely she heard or smelled you. Their eyesight is terrible. If you are downwind and stand perfectly still they will sometimes not know you are present, even though you are perfectly visible.
