2016 Winter Study

Post by 3MTA3 » Fri Jan 29, 2016 9:57 am

Anybody know any information/ updates/ rumors/ whatever about the winter study? I've been checking the blog but it hasn't been updated from last year's study. Last year's first post was 1/19, so I was hoping for one by now.

Posted on the Wolves and Moose of Isle Royale facebook page this morning:

"Ready and (still) waiting - we need some cold weather and more ice before full deployment of the Winter Study 2016...maybe next week."

I miss so many things not having the facebooks.

Thanks!

The latest FB post states at least 2 wolves are still alive.

Is this the only way to view the study? Through facebook?

There's also the blog on their site http://www.isleroyalewolf.org/winter-study, but it still has last year's. Hopefully it will be updated with a new 2016 entry soon. In the meantime, yeah, following them on FB is probably what you have to do to keep up with the snippets here and there. But John H is good at reposting them here, so you're probably getting all there is know so far.

There have been issues with being able to get the larger plane out to IR to land on the ice. The flagship was grounded till they could get a backup plane to assist if needed from MN.

Another FB update. https://www.facebook.com/Wolves-and-Moo ... 1/?fref=nf

Part of the problem with no updates on the Wolf Moose page is that there are only 2 of the team on the Island currently and time to do updates is short. Hopefully the rest of the team will be out there soon and updates on Wolf Moose page will begin.
