IRKPA Wolf's Eye newsletter for October 2014

Post by fonixmunkee »

The Isle Royale & Keweenaw Parks Association has released a new Wolf's Eye newsletter this month. In this issue:
  • Keweenaw Geoheritage
  • Legacy of a Chippewa Harbor fishing family
  • Photos from the July annual meeting
  • KNHP Advisory Commission acquisition of Quincy Smelter
  • Artist-in-Residence Program update
  • Isle Royale NP "Greenstone" Jubilee in 2015
You can view the PDF file here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_HCM3 ... sp=sharing

Of particular interest to me was the story about the Johnson family that lived in Chippewa Harbor. Isle Royale is one of the most beautiful, remote places I've ever been to, and it's what really keeps me going back. The second thing is the amazing history this place has. The short article about this fishing family really makes me yearn to be back out on IR. Also, I believe the very end of the article may officially dispel any one left who thinks that the "school house" in Chippewa is just that.

Enjoy the read,
