This next set of photos does not do justice the beauty of Isle Royale in the Spring. So a visit is necessary.

I figured that was because the sunlight at Chippewa Harbor once caused your loins to explode like a Super Nova....yea, I'll never be able to "unsee" that image.

On a 1930's calendar related issue, this image popped up this week at Pasty.com. Once again, Tobin Harbor is referred to as Tobin's Harbor.

Interesting that they found it necessary to explain that the names of two of the fishermen were nicknames and that they thus also needed to tell us their official names.

I am not familiar with the history of that stretch of water. I would assume that a Tobin family was present and prevalent in that neck of the woods.

Glad others find this early calendar as interesting as I do!

As much as I love the fall season, not exactly excited to hear the word September right now but....

Interesting to see them refer to "the fifties" and realize they mean the 1850's.

Hopefully you accept my excuse for the lateness of the last Month of the series - October. I was out in the Wilderness in BWCA and Chequamegon National Forest. Not
Isle Royale, that trip with my Father ended up being a Cabin trip in the Porcupines due to other obligations/time frame/island transportation.

So October brings a perspective of the natural four-legged-inhabitants in 1930's. I think this is one of my favorite months due to the ongoing wolf subject.

I wonder what caused the lynx to disappear? I'll have to do some googling.
