Forum problems (as of February 25th, 2020)

Post by fonixmunkee »

All,

I tried to update the forum software the other day, and it blew up spectacularly. I'm slowly restoring the site, trying to figure out what went wrong.

All the basic functionality should work, but if you find something that DOESN'T WORK, post it in this thread, and I'll prioritize it.

UPDATE Feb 25th, 2020:
  • The PHP error some people were receiving should now be fixed.
  • All user avatars (profile pictures) should be back.
UPDATE March 7th, 2020:
I haven't heard any other complaints about the forums misbehaving, so I'm going to call it good!

Thanks!

So that's it! When all I got was a blank screen when I pointed my browser at the forum's home page, I assumed I'd been black-balled.

Seriously, thanks to you and the other admins for keeping this place up and running. It made me very sad to think that it had evaporated!

I got an error message when I tried to check the forums on mobile last week and I panicked that it was gone. So glad you guys keep this place running. All is well on my end now.

I can pull up the site on my Chrome browser at work with no issue. However, my home browsers (Firefox and Chrome) throw an error message: You are running an unsupported PHP version. Please upgrade to PHP 7.1.3 or higher before trying to install or update to phpBB 3.3

I have not idea what that means.

I can't replicate the error in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Can you try clearing your Temporary Internet Files in each browser and try again?

I cleared my cache and temporary files. I still get the same message.

Try it now. The unsecured (http) version of the forums wasn't redirecting to the secured version (https)
