No guesses on the pic I posted? Or was it too easy?

I want to say Scoville Pt based on the rocks, but can't picture the trees that far away--maybe just the perspective?

Duncan Bay? Only been there once years ago, but it looks vaguely familiar.

Indeed, Scoville Point, taken from a boat.

Negative. (But I can see why you would think that.)

I'll mix it up with a sequence. Trail accessible portage (not a campground).

Duncan Bay/Tobin Harbor?

My guess would be, Duncan Bay to Tobin Harbor portage.

An observation/comment: the tump on the portage sac seems to be anchored very high on the bag. :?:
My thought/comment is, that it would appear to be uncomfortable, and doing little to redistribute carry weight.
I have been using a tump in almost all of my set-ups, but, anchor the strap to a lower position on the sac; a lower anchor(waist/low torso area) positioning, I have found, increases the relief to the shoulder straps carry weight.
I have never used that type of pack before, so, perhaps they carry just fine.
I wonder if those, with experience with that type of sac, would also care to comment?

That it is. You're up, unless someone can guess Tom's pic.

It's an old traditional Duluth pack. There's no adjustment to the attachment points, unless you're into sewing canvas and leather (in which case you might make your own :)). Just a big canvas sack with straps and the tump. I remember seeing a setup with the tump rigged around the bottom, but haven't used that myself. I can't say that it "carries just fine" in any case, or is built for any kind of "comfort", but it does the job of hauling a bunch of gear a relatively short distance. Very utilitarian.

That particular pack is still in the family somewhere, but I've since gotten a more modern version with a waist belt and load levelers, but without a tump. I miss the tump at times, but on the whole the hip belt probably helps more given one or the other. The load levelers make a huge difference keeping the top closer in to the shoulders, something the high attachments for the tump also do.

Yep, you got it, Menagerie Island. We found an unlocked window, hoisted ourselves up through it, and explored the place. Scary and interesting at the same time. Stunning views too, from the top of the lighthouse.

Potato sausage, you're next.
