I doubt anybody can answer this, but on the Rolf Peterson IR wolf/moose webinar a few months back, he mentioned, that if everything worked out, that the winter study would start on January 10th. So theoretically, the researchers are on the island right now. Anybody hear anything new on this?

Here is a MODIS image form 1/8. There looks to be enough ice in Windigo to land a plane.
