Heading to Rock Harbor Aug 7, plan to backpack around east end of island--Moskey, E Chickenbone, Mt Ojibway, etc.--and off island Aug 13. I'd appreciate any current bug reports.

We brought back 6 skulls, fewer than that mandibles and pelvises. I don't recall exactly, and we found some skulls so old decided to photograph and leave in place. I'm intrigued by the Knobstone Trail in Indiana--always looking for places to go in the midwest. Has anyone on this forum backpacked the Knobstone? Any thoughts you'd care to share?

Wally, thanx for your offer, this'll be my 3rd Philmont trek. We're doing the south loop (my 3rd time around there, too)--looking forward to returning to Scouting's Paradise this year... and maybe one of the northern paradises, AKA Isle Royale or Boundary Waters, next year!

I spent mine on a silk mummy bag liner... supposed to add about 9 degrees or so to my sleeping bag rating. i bought a light-weight down bag on near 50% markdown from REI in November, weighs about 1.5 lbs, a few extra degrees will feel good on cooler nights.

I led a small group of 5 Scouts and Scouters (not officially a "group" by NPS definition) last July from McCargoe Cove to Windigo, looping south for 3 of the 4 Feldtman loop legs. If I went back for another trip, I'd hit the west end of the island once again.
