Re: NPS officially moving forward with introducing new wolves to IRNP

The 2 instances I remember where a wolf was seen specifically in a campground was the one in Daisy Farm corroborated by park rangers and another one in Siskiwit CG. The Siskiwit CG incident was substantiated with photos of a wolf walking down a campground trail that was aware of nearby people but i...

Re: NPS officially moving forward with introducing new wolves to IRNP

I’m all for reintroduces wolves to Isle Royale. My only concern is how these new wolves will react to humans. I can’t imagine being a solo hiker and run into a small pack on the trail. That would be scary. The wolves will most likely come from Ontario. I can't imagine they have not had exposure to ...

Re: circumnavegation IR

I have stayed at Little Todd once while paddling the North side. No one there besides us in August. Stayed at Hugginin a few times both hiking and paddling, did not have a problem with getting a site. I have talked to various folks who have paddled the SW side. Plenty of good places to camp along th...

Just curious what lakes are best for fishing this time of year. I’ll be heading out September 11 for rock harbor.
Are you hiking or paddling?

Re: TR: 7/14-7/19 2018 – Canoe paddle of the NE corner

Sounds like a great trip!! We have done the early AM paddle around Blake in the early AM a few times in kayaks. Glad you made it around without issue. I have found the IRNP is "small" compared to other places. I have run into folks here when wearing an Isle Royale shirt and have been asked if I have...

Re: TR: 8/2018 [Canoeing/Fishing - McCargo Cove to Malone Bay]

We were trolling and jigging, we had to be in 70-90' of water. Jigging was longer between fish. Trolling was about every 5-10 minutes. Having the a phone sonar really helped pin point the trolling depth out of the canoe. We also used 4 oz. drop weights and trolling spoons. That is the plan next yea...
