Re: Wood Ducks

Yes they are but to quote the illustrious poet Billy Gibbons "woman go crazy for a sharp dressed man" These ducks have shown up on a local lake with some females and I have been capturing images of them as they go about their daily lives. Fingers are crossed that they will produce a clutch of young...

On the island, the NPS has documented as many as 11 individuals at a beaver colony, though colonies typically have 2–6 individuals. In 2019, there were 4.9 beaver...

Re: Let's thank our moderators...

The Forums existed in another site starting in the late 90's (I beleive). I don't recall what happened to them, but fonix started this site in '07 to take the place of the other forum. A lot of the same people showed up here. Many thanks to fonix for doing this!!

Re: Trip Report: Aug 6-13, 2020

Thanks for the video! Envy you guys. I thought after last years hike (at ISRO), I'd retire from backpacking. The rangers were checking up on me every where I went (sore L. knee and R. ankle). Thanks to them I made it back to Rock Harbor. Now I don't know where I'd go, if there is a next year. Every...

Re: Intermediate and Lake Richie Algae Bloom 2020

The only surprise is that it took this long. It's been a dang warm year in the area (and sunny), and many of these lakes have witnessed blooms in the past, so I was waiting for when the report would come in. I had the opportunity to get in a little trip/fishing this past weekend (TR to come, eventu...

Hiker evacuated from IR

A hiker had to be airlifted from IR aster suffering an injury. From the USCG Saulte Ste. Marie page: Did you know that the Coast Guard doesn't just respond to cases on the water?
