Ditto to what John said about the Park Service trying to get to and open up the Island on Monday May 5th.I heard about it today also.

I took the first trip to the Island on the Queen IV May 2013 and the Ranger docked at Rock Harbor. I observed building materials and freight for the Lodge being unloaded topside by the crane,a sizeable load as I recall. I don't remember what if anything was taken off from the side of the boat.

Lake Superior is 91% to 94% frozen over depending on who you listen to. NBC news says 91%,GLCTS website says 94.5%. Some experts say within a week 95% plus is a possibility!It is all due to the continuing Polar Vortex parade.

I always bring a small AM/FM WB radio to the Island. It goes in and out but most of the time I can pick up reports from Copper Harbor and Thunder Bay.

Received and watched the Fifty Lakes DVD. It was OK. Not what I had expected.
