Re: Chippewa Harbor or Moskey Basin

I've had good success with the boaters at Chippewa. They've feed me lake trout (freshly caught), as much as I desired. Lucky me! Moskey is also a good choice. Never an issue there (so far).

Re: May 2018 McCargo-Daisy-Moskey-Chippewa

JerryB, I too have a lot of food left over when I return home from a hike. I feel the hiking, site seeing, etc. distract me to the point I've gotten to the end of the day, with minimal amount of food comsumption. I want to thank you once again for the sharing of food, room, etc. at the Grand Portage...

Re: Trip Report July 12-18, 2017

In September a bull moose and two cows (one with her calf) were in Washington Creek every day (9/14-18). And often in the middle of the night. Thanks for your report.

There are plenty of trees at the cove. They should work for you.

Grey jays were active every day when I was at Washington creek last month. They are big.

Re: Senior Pass

I not only used my senior pass at Isle Royale NP this year, but twice when camping in Superior National Forest (E. Bearskin and Sawbill Lakes) on returning to Minnesota. 1/2 price at those campsites, plus covering the N.P. saved me over $50.

Re: Senior Pass

I just got my senior pass last week before the price hike. To think I could have purchased the pass more then ten years ago. I'll be using it in 12 days at ISRO NP.

Re: September trip

I've too have always enjoyed meeting folks from the "Forum". The laundry and showers are not going to be available in the last half of September. The potable water is available into October.

Thanks Tom! Remember me, the old guy you gave water to and shared your knowledge of the NP?

Re: September trip

Thanks for the info. I wonder how many businesses are still going in Grand Marais in September?
P.S. Are you going to do the east or west side of ISRO NP?

September trip

For my 11th trip to ISRO NP I'm thinking about going after labor day this year (mid to late September). I'm thinking about day hiking out of Washington Creek campground/shelters. I figure the showers, flush toilets and the room where we can wash clothes are locked up by the time I get there. Hopeful...

Re: Trail planning, early August

Arriving early at Daisy Farm should help you attain a shelter. I would suggest a tent as a back up, just in case. Never needed in my numerous stops at Daisy Farm. I did put one up inside a shelter during a bad storm to keep dry and warm however.

Re: Itinerary Feedback - Early August

If you have to stay at E. Chickenbone remember you'll have to hike down to get water from the lake. Scouts have often stayed there in the group area.

Re: A couple quick questions (toilet paper and showers)

I always carry TP with me. You often need it away from Rock Harbor or Windigo.
