Re: Trail Cam
Back in 2007, I was docked at McCargoe Cove. I got up very early and discovered many wolf prints around the picnic tables just a few yards from the boat. It would have been cool to see who visited us during the night.

Re: Best cell signal at West end of island?
Cell phones are radios, and as such, are dependent on a number of factors for their operation. My cell phone (a Verizon iphone 6) at Windigo worked okay. It wasn't perfect, but it worked. A few years earlier, an ancient flip-fone (also Verizon) I owned worked just fine while I was at the Duncan Bay ...

Re: Best cell signal at West end of island?
Years ago, I asked the woman who runs the store at Windigo how they got their Wi-Fi coverage. Honestly, I don't remember what she told me, but I'm looking for the email message(s)... Not a ton of help, I know, but you could start with the Park and Concession folks to see what they use; Rock Harbor, ...

Re: Boating Question (Bass Boating to the Island)
I've taken my boat (a 23' Boston Whaler) to the island four times. Always from Grand Portage. I have many friends (also with Whalers) that have made the trip from Eagle Harbor many times. The trouble with the big lake is that it can be like glass or dangerous, and everything in between. Sometimes in...

I don't get it either. Are they worried one of the last three wolves on the island is going to get into your food?

Re: Lake Superior Ice Cover Map 2015
Guys, the wolves are doomed. Ice bridge or not, it isn't like there's a pack waiting in Grand Portage to get out to the island. There could be an ice bridge and a shuttle bus, they're still doomed.

Re: Visitor perception of "private" areas on Isle Royale?
I've encountered many people who didn't realize there are parcels of private property within both (MN) state parks and many national parks. I used to think it was a generational thing, but I've witnessed the "entitlement mentality" from people of all ages. Some folks just think they're spe...

Air temperature on the open lake is still quite cold and will feel even colder with any appreciable wind.

Wow, cool I didn't even know that those existed, where to find? You can find them online, but unfortunately you have to buy in bulk. Where do you live? Do you have a Brueggers Bagels or Einstien Bagels near you? These kind of places usually have them. You can also find them at hotels and many restau...

Never tried cream cheese in the hot of summer.....how does it hold up? Or Is this a first night out kinda thing? You need to find cream cheese in the individual packets (like ketchup) or in the little cups. They don't require refrigeration. http://www.kraftfoodservice.com/PublishingImages/meatdairy...
